# Contacts

Understanding what contacts are and how they are added to the system

A contact can be an organisation or an individual that has a specific role within the system.

Roles include

-   **Breeder** - responsible for the breeding of horses
-   **Jockey** - part of the trackwork team
-   **Owner** - can be billable or an interested party
-   **Practitioner** - assigned procedures to be performed on a horse
-   **Trainer** - the trainer responsible for a horse
-   **Other** \- all other contacts within the system

A contact can be added via the **Contact view,** the **Quick Add Menu** or by [importing a CSV file](https://epona.productfruits.help/en/article/contact-csv-import). Once set up, the contact can be added as an interested party or in other areas where a contact is required.
